Workplace Ergonomics

Ergonomics can be defined as the study of the interaction between people and their workplace with an emphasis on equipment and/or tasks that optimize efficiency and safety. The goal of an ergonomics program is to "fit the job to the person" rather than making the person fit the job.

Some of the benefits of an ergonomics program may include an increase in employee well-being, production, morale, and employee relations. A reduction in fatigue, injuries, and metal stress may also be beneficial. Ergonomics is needed in the workplace due to an escalation in workers' compensation and health care costs, an aging workforce, and one out four workplace injuries is ergonomics related.

Fidelity Safety can provide the following workplace ergonomic services:

  • Review and implementation of ergonomic standards
  • Worksite, workstation, and office evaluations
  • Assist in the control of exposures including, engineering control, workstation redesign, and administrative controls
  • Job analysis
  • Training
